Why Friday’s bounce faded
Nvidia opened Friday at $191.10 and was trading at $193.09, up 6.33 percent, a few minutes after the bell (Investing.com via Yahoo Finance). It reached $194.90, then gave back more than half of the gain to close at $186.64. The early high stopped at the $193-$194 gap left by Thursday’s fall, which Investing.com’s technical analysis had marked as the first resistance.
The wider market did not help. The US added 165,000 jobs in October against about 65,000 expected, which lifted the odds of a December Fed rate hike to about 80 percent (GoldSilver, citing CME FedWatch), and higher rates weigh hardest on expensive growth stocks. Our desk covered the release in US Economy Adds 165,000 Jobs as December Fed Rate Hike Odds Rise. The S&P 500 rose 0.31 percent on Friday (Rio Times), a small recovery after Thursday’s AI rout. Schwab Network’s Rob Luna described Thursday’s sell-off as a “delayed reaction” to the midterm result.

The Huang memo
A second issue landed on Saturday. The Financial Times reported that a memo written by US officials earlier this year says chief executive Jensen Huang had a romantic relationship with an executive at Megaspeed, a Singapore-based Nvidia customer, whom US intelligence believes was recruited by China’s Ministry of State Security. No charges have been brought and no public finding of wrongdoing has been made, and Nvidia declined to comment on the memo. Our desk has the details in Nvidia’s Jensen Huang Had Romantic Relationship With Alleged Chinese Spy, US Memo Says.
The report came after senior Republican House committee chairmen asked Huang for a closed-door briefing, following a New York Times report on 5 November about the same intelligence (CNBC, Invezz). The memo story broke after Friday’s close, so Monday’s open is the first chance for the stock to react to it.
What the chart shows

The daily RSI recovered to 36.6 from 25.4 on Thursday, out of oversold territory but not yet strong.

What to watch this week
- Monday’s open: the first trading reaction to the Huang memo report.
- Tuesday 10 November: US October CPI at 8:30 a.m. ET. A hot reading would push December hike odds higher. CoreWeave and D-Wave are scheduled to report the same day.
- $181.46: Thursday’s low; a close below it opens the $172 pivot.
- Nebius (11 November) and Cerebras (12 November): scheduled AI infrastructure results that will shape expectations for Nvidia’s own report.
- 17 November: Nvidia’s results and guidance. Our AMD results page shows how the last big chip report was received before the rout.
Quick take: Nvidia closed Friday at $186.64, up 2.78 percent but well off its $194.90 high, and down about 10.7 percent on the week. A weekend report on a US memo about Jensen Huang and Tuesday’s CPI are the next tests before results on 17 November. Expect $181-$194 until then; $172 needs Thursday’s low to break, $200 needs the gap to fill.
